Your first appointment with your Life Street counsellor is all about understanding the issues that are concerning you. The counsellor will ask questions to understand your concerns and to explore the situation with you in more detail. By the end of that first appointment you and the counsellor will have a shared understanding of the problem and a plan as to what can be done to address the situation. You will also decide if further counselling would be helpful and that is arranged at the end of your first appointment. Most of the time you and your counsellor will be able to address your issue by talking at agreed times over a number of weeks. The right plan for some clients involves longer term counselling, or seeing another specialised service/professional, beyond the EAP. In such cases, the Life Street counsellor works closely with each client to help make that happen and follow up to check on how that is working.
When you connect with a Life Street counsellor, you can be assured that they have extensive experience. Life Street counsellors are experienced psychologists, social workers and coaches with training and experience in helping individuals deal with the many issues that impact peoples’ work and personal life.
It is. At Life Street, maintaining confidentiality is paramount to trust in our service. Your employer is not told who uses the EAP. As your employer sponsors the program, it is given a report on the numbers of employees using the EAP but not names. For all services there are limits to confidentiality. This includes if there is threat to life or if required by law.
Life Street is paid for by your organization. There is no cost to you.
